1. What tasks will be required of me?

The Medical Reserve Corps seeks to match your skill set with the tasks that will be asked of you. Example: If you are a nurse, you will likely be matched with medical related tasks. Spontaneous volunteers or non-medical related volunteers will be placed in non-medical roles, etc. Please call 765-423-9221 for more information.

2. Do I have to hold a healthcare license or be a medical professional?

The Tippecanoe County Medical Reserve Corps does not require that you hold a healthcare license or be a medical professional. Volunteers must simply meet the requirements.

3. What types of volunteers do you look for?

The MRC utilizes a variety of volunteers. Some existing volunteer categories include:
-EMS Professionals
-Mental Health Professionals
-Nurse Practitioners
-Nurses
-Pharmacists
-Physician Assistants
-Physicians
-Other Non-Health/Non-Medical Volunteers

4. Am I required to report for duty in the event of an emergency?

As an MRC volunteer, you should expect to be called to help in an emergency. You should be as prepared as possible, and make plans for your family so that you are available to help. However, work and family commitments are your 1st priority, and are understood. We hope you will plan ahead and be prepared to assist your community with the MRC should an emergency occur.

Ultimately, it will be your choice! Should you need to turn down a mission request, it will not impact your status with the MRC. You will be called again the next time we activate. Please call 765-423-9221 for more information.

5. How do I prepare for an emergency before deployment?

6. Will I be expected to respond outside of Tippecanoe County during an emergency?

The Tippecanoe County MRC is intended to be a local emergency response unit. When registering for SERV-IN, however, you will be asked your preferences regarding state or national emergency response deployment. Service during such incidents is completely voluntary.
